Mission

Never say, “impossible”

When I was a new accountant, some of the first companies I worked with were small businesses and nonprofits. One audit client who changed my outlook was a local food bank that did amazing work in the community but received a “qualified” (failed) audit opinion every year.

When I took over the audit and met the owner I could see his frustration. The operation ran like a well-oiled machine, but an accounting issue forced him to explain the failed audit to potential funders again, and again, and again.

The difficulty was with inventory accounting: What value do you record for semi-trucks full of food when everything is donated, not purchased?

With no process in place to value their inventory the audit opinion was “qualified” every year . . . and no one at the firm cared.

I decided to care.

It took some time, but we developed appropriate ways of assigning values to the donated food and making the appropriate accounting entries. Problem solved!

All it took was a first-year auditor who didn’t know it was impossible.

Mission and Vision

I partner with Alaskan organizations to remove obstacles, strengthen operations, and help them unlock their full potential.

My vision is a future where Alaskan businesses work at their best, driven by mission, strengthened by clarity, and supported by the right tools and practices.

Here for you

It’s an unfortunate fact, but we’ve all heard of companies who have lost revenue, turned away business, or even closed doors as a result of difficulties that could have been solved . . . with the right help.

Foundry Accounting & Consulting was built on the belief that Alaska deserves world class consulting support.

Small businesses, law firms, nonprofits, native corporations, and even large corporations all run into challenges. The key is being able to identify the roadblocks to your success and implement solutions to move your business forward.

Best of all, when you work with me you’re not getting another Outside firm pretending to be local. My family and I live, work, and play right here in Alaska. I’m here to stay, and I’m here to support you.
