I firmly believe that pricing should be transparent, understandable, and fair.
Standard Rate
The standard rate for services is $300 per hour, unless a discount applies or you have contracted for subscription based services (see below).
Also, I never charge so-called “premium rates” for activities like expert testimony, third-party coordination, board presentations, or rush jobs.
Discounts
| First Time Client Discount | 10% off = $270 per hour |
| Small Nonprofit Discount* | 15% off = $255 per hour |
*Less than 10 employees
Retainer
An upfront retainer of 50% is always required to start work. The retainer amount may be adjusted upwards based on factors such as the anticipated expenses, scope of work, and risk of nonpayment.
Expenses
Any job-specific expenses, such as specialized software, printing costs, or presentation materials are billed to the job at cost plus 10%.
Travel
Anchorage Municipality: On-site work anywhere within the Anchorage Municipality does not incur travel costs.
Driving Outside Anchorage: Mileage to and from locations outside the Anchorage municipality is billed at $0.75 per mile. Travel time is discounted to 50% of the standard rate.
Commercial Travel: When commercial travel is required (ferry, plane, rental car, etc.) the costs are billed as Expenses, with the standard markup noted above.
Travel time to off-road-system sites is billed in four-hour increments, rounded up to the nearest four hours. The cost per four-hour increment is 75% of the standard rate.
Subscription Based Services
I offer two options for ongoing support at discounted rates, without the need to go through the contracting process every time you have a new project.
General Consulting Subscription
If you’re looking for a discount on services and on-call support, without the hassle of contracting every time, then a general consulting subscription might be perfect for you. These contracts provide a negotiated number of consulting hours per month at a discounted rate. The following terms apply:
- Excess work hours are billed at the standard rate, shown above.
- Half of any unused hours in a month are rolled over to the next month.
- Any unused hours expire at the end of the contract term.
The actual rate and number of hours are negotiated with each client based on their unique needs. However, the hourly rate is always less than the standard rate shown above.
Fractional Controller
Do you fall into any of these categories:
- A startup business that needs advanced accounting support, but without the expense of hiring a full-time controller?
- Growing business that already has a great bookkeeper, but occasionally needs someone for advanced projects, like preparing financial statements for your auditors?
- A nonprofit organization with some complex accounting needs, but not enough work to keep a full-time controller busy?
If any of these sound like your organization then fractional controller services might be the answer. This involves contracting with me to provide the services of an in-house controller, but without the expense of a full-time employee.
